For those of us that follow the independent wrestling scene, certain promotions are know for certain things, CZW is violent and rough, New Japan is artistic, and PWG has American Legion Post #308. Sure they have had events elsewhere, but Post 308 is home
for PWG, the sweat lodge has given so many classic memories and helped make a name for so many prominent wrestlers. Wrestlers such as The Young Bucks, Cesaro, Aj Styles, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and sooooooo many more have graced the wrestling room of the Post. The Post have given us iconic and classic matches, goofy segments, emotional farewells, and more holy shit moments that I can count in an afternoon. It's a place where I fell in love with modern wrestling and wrestlers being able to tell a story without a story being in place.
The post gave us Kevin Steen, yes he wrestled elsewhere, but in PWG, he found himself, he gave one of the best promos I have ever heard. We got Mount Rushmore and Mount Rushmore 2.0 in the Reseda Post. The post saw Steen and So Generico flourish. Kevin Steen was arguably one of the biggest and best stars to ever grace post 308. Without it, we may not have the Kevin Owens that we have weekly on WWE television, same with Sami Zayn. We got to see how good El Generico was, and about his orphans in Mexico. It's also where we saw Trevor Lee make a name for himself when he small packaged Kevin Steen into oblivion. We saw the emotional farewell to El Generico.
These guys all played a role in the development of PWG. They made the Post more than an American Legion, they made it an iconic place in wrestling, a place that you wanted to visit and go watch amazing wrestling. Battle of Los Angeles, All star weekends, amazing pay per views, all have made the Post a wrestling icon in its own right. PWG 11 had Kevin
Steens last match and one of my favorite tag team matches I've ever watched. The Young Bucks vs The Worlds Cutest Tag Team. Guerilla Warfare helped to make Candice Leray a household name. The guts she showed in that match, bleeding all over holding the PWG tag belt. The Bucks and Adam Cole superkicking Steen out of PWG, these memories all took place at Post 308.
One of my favorite things when I watch PWG, is the ever going feud the Bucks have with Rick Knox, I can only hope Friday, they continue the shenanigans. I've seen Knox clothesline them, knock them off of a ladder, and my ultimate Rick Knox holy shit moment was flipping over the top rope. All amazing memories, from this amazing venue.
The amazing stars we have today, have a lot to be thankful for because of Post 308. Tommy End (Aleister Black) Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Adam Cole, all made their presence felt there. I'm gonna miss the fuck out of watching matches there. If you have never seen an event from there, watch them, they are intimate, fans get involved, it just wrestling. I will always enjoy PWG, its just not going to feel the same.
So to all that have made The Reseda post what it became thank you. Its been a pleasure watching pure wrestling in such an iconic venue.
